Neurophysiology is fascination by its complexity, it's diversity and its impact on our daily life. The chapters presented here give a broad description of the main aspects of the functioning of the nervous system.

  • 2- Anatomy

It's almost impossible to describe the neuroanatomy in only a dozen of articles. This chapter is only an overview of the main organs that are key to the understanding of the nervous system.

  • 3- Neurophysiology basics

We try through this chapter to approach the nervous system from a biological point of view, we examine the cells and molecules implicated, and also the transmission of the nervous signal.

  • 4- Sensory systems

Many organs and systems allow us to be aware of the environment around us, this chapter describes the organs and mechanisms involved in our perception of the world.

  • 5 - Motor systems

We act on our environment through different motor systems, this chapter describes the essential structures and functions involved.

  • 6- Cognition

Cognition involves many higher order functions : Memory and learning, language, conscience, executive functions ... This chapter tries to give an overview of each.

  • 7 - Neurological Disorders

Neurophysiology can tell us about how certain neurological diseases occur. We describe in this chapter the pathophysiological mechanisms of the most common neurological disorders.

  • 8- Conclusion

Neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and neurophysiopathology are each a separate discipline. In fact, each chapter is a very broad field of study. The purpose of this volume is not to summarize the functioning of the nervous system, far from it, we can only give an overview and certainly incomplete, sometimes biased, of what is actually happening.
